Jamie Harris, Pianist, Teacher of Music
A passionate and sought after educator in the region, Jamie has worked extensively with people of all ages and abilities, from beginners through to emerging professional musicians, and cares deeply about inspiring the next generation of musicians and encouraging participation in music by all.
During his time at University, Jamie studied piano performance with pianist and broadcaster David Owen Norris (FSA, FRAM, FRCO) and Helen Cawthorne (LRAM, FISM). Also showing a keen interest in early music, Jamie studied harpsichord with Jane Chapman (ARCM) and ensemble and continuo with internationally acclaimed lutenist Elizabeth Kenny. Jamie used this expertise to lead an orchestra and choir in the masque Venus and Adonis, a world premiere of a new edition, as well as performances of choral and orchestral works by Antonio Vivaldi. Jamie also performed as orchestra pianist with Southampton University Symphony Orchestra (SUSO) and went on tour to Spain.

Jamie graduated with first class honours and continues to work regularly with the University.
Jamie also works at Mayflower Theatre, Southampton within the marketing and engagement departments. Outside of work, he is a reluctant runner, keen traveller and ever hopeful Arsenal FC supporter!
